My blood tests came back normal. Is there any point in seeing you?
Often, yes. Standard blood tests are designed to find disease, and they are good at it. They are not designed to explain why you feel unwell when nothing is wrong. Most of what Katia works with sits in that space — how you eat, how you sleep, how your cycle behaves, and what your symptoms have in common. A normal result tells us something useful. It rarely tells us everything.
Will this replace what my doctor is doing?
No. Katia works alongside medical care, not instead of it. She does not diagnose conditions and does not advise on medication — those are your doctor’s. If something you describe needs medical attention, she will tell you, and would rather you went.
Do I need to be at a particular stage of my cycle to start?
No. You can start at any point. If your cycle is relevant to what we are looking at, Katia will ask you to track it for a while, so that we are working from your pattern rather than from an average.
Do I have to give up foods I like?
Almost never, and it is rarely where we start. Most of the first changes are additions — more protein, more fibre, more variety — because those are the ones that hold. A plan built on removal tends to last about three weeks.
How long before I notice anything?
It depends on what we are working on. Digestion and energy often shift within a few weeks. Anything involving a cycle needs two or three cycles before there is a pattern worth reading. Better to say that at the start than have you wondering at week three.
I am not sure my symptoms are “bad enough”. Should I still come?
Yes. Most people who come to Katia have been managing something for years on the grounds that it was not serious enough to mention. Tiredness, bloating, a cycle that has changed, feeling unlike yourself — none of those need to reach a threshold before they are worth looking at. And if she thinks you need a doctor rather than her, she will say so.
